How to Make Your Own Wildlife Posters

Wildlife posters display a deep love for nature and an interest in animals. While you can buy a poster with a picture of your favorite wildlife species, it is usually more interesting and memorable to make your own wall art; there are some easy ways to do this.

  1. First: Find the right photo

Whether you prefer the mighty lion or the tiny ant, there are hundreds of pictures of wildlife available from online search engines. Find one with a large enough size to make a big poster so that the picture is not riddled with artifacts from trying to make a small picture larger. If you or somebody you know enjoys photography, you can go to the zoo and take a picture of your favorite animal. However, the best animal photography is captured in the wild, so if you live in a place where you can often find wild animals, go outside and shoot one. Remember that you do not have to go on safari to get great wildlife shots, but you can if you want.

  2. Second: Get the picture on the computer

Most modern photography is shot with digital cameras instead of film. If you have a picture of your own that you shot with a digital camera, hook it up to the computer and download it. If you have a film picture, a print or a picture from a book or magazine, you can scan it. Make sure the scan is at a high resolution.

  3. Third: Make the poster

Create a high-resolution, blank file in an graphic software application such as Adobe Photoshop, import the picture and manipulate it until you have it the way you want it. You can add text or other image details to make it as naturalistic or surreal as your imagination desires.

  4. Fourth: Print it out

If you do not have a printer big enough to print posters, save the poster to a USB drive and take it to a one-hour print shop like the one at the drug store or a dedicated photo lab or poster shop. They can print it as large or as small as you like, and if you have a high-quality image it should look as good as a poster you bought at the store.
